Cerkiew Swietego Marii Magdaleny is the only big Russian Orthodox church of Warsaw. The church was built in 1869, and serves as a popular tourist destination. Especially those typical onion-domed towers, are true ecstasy and rapture for Warsaw travellers.

Cerkiew Swietego Marii Magdaleny is worth to see inside as well. Fancy carpets and walls of leaf gold characterize the world inside the holy building.

There is a worship service everday at 6:00pm. The visitor is able to experience impressive celebrations with liturgic chants and many candles. Cerkiew Swietego Marii Magdaleny is a very spiritual place in such moments.

Kosciól Nawiedzenia NMP church was built during the 15th century, and impresses with a red bakestone frontage. The freestanding clock tower of the church is a very unique sample of a creative ecclesiastical architecture during the 15th century.

Next to the church is a observation platform with a great view on the Vistula river.

The Gothic cathedral is Warsaws oldest and most important church. Since 1798 it fulfils the role as a cathdral. In 1817 Katedra Swietego Jana Chrzciciela became the cathdral of the archbishopric Warsaw.

The crypt accommodates the graves of many Polish personalities. During the second world war, the cathdral was completely destroyed, but rebuilt right after the war.

One of the most interesting attractions are the reconstructed old sculptures, and the glass windows with pictures of Polish saints.

To remember the reconstruction after the war, a chain of a German tank was attached into a wall.

Kosciól Swietego Kryza has a famous foundation stone layer. It was no less a figure than King Jan III Sobieski. The church possesses also Warsaws biggest organ, and the heart of the Polish composer Frederic Chopin. His body is buried in Paris.

St. Annas Church is known in Warsaw as “Kosciól sw. Anny”, and a true jewel on the gate to the old town. The church is not that big in size and importance as others, but has a high prestige for the people of Warsaw.

Even the pope has visisted this church during his tour through Poland in 2006. The church has the status of an academic house of worship. St Annas baroque character is very strong. There are golden decorations on the walls, and also the magnificent altar is a true sensation.

Because of its fabulous acoustic and the beautiful organ, the place serves as a venue for many concerts.

The church was built in 1454. Destroyed during the second world war, and rebuilt between 1946 and 1962.
