A story about Warsaw from a German traveller.

Things about Warsaw you never wanted to know.

Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is actually a nice and charmingly town, with many places of interest. There is the old castle, the gardens, the parks and the narrow lanes of the historical Old Town. It it is only very difficult there to come. The traffic in this gigantic town is just chaotic. There are coaches and roads, but they are hopelessly overcrowded.

There is also an underground, indeed, only one line. The second one is under construction, and the third one exists only to the heads of the planners.

If you do not want to walk, take a taxi. If you drive taxi, don’t complain about the price. Polish taxi drivers are offended very fast. Enjoy the nice city tour, thank the driver, and give him a generous tip. The parks of Warsaw are nice. In the afternoon they play there Chopin, and at night you are going to be be attacked.

The nightlife of Warsaw ist very attractive. Jazz is played in bars and there are restaurants with marvellous Polish food, which is very, very fat. But beer and vodka are inexpensive and the Poles are friendly people. They invite you, and you are drunk in no time.

Shopping is very expensive in Warsaw, but there are markets for Italian handbags and French perfumes.

There are many friendly men in Warsaw. They want to change your money in Polish money. Remain polite and say dear no thanks. Since, otherwise, you are cheated under guarantee.

In Warsaw there are many cinemas. There also great films run, unfortunately, only in the original language with Polish subtitles. With American films this goes, but how is it with Japanese films?

If you have visited Warsaw, you will never forget this.
