St. Annas Church Warsaw

Category: Church Warsaw – admin – 8:25 am

St. Annas Church is known in Warsaw as “Kosciól sw. Anny”, and a true jewel on the gate to the old town. The church is not that big in size and importance as others, but has a high prestige for the people of Warsaw.

Even the pope has visisted this church during his tour through Poland in 2006. The church has the status of an academic house of worship. St Annas baroque character is very strong. There are golden decorations on the walls, and also the magnificent altar is a true sensation.

Because of its fabulous acoustic and the beautiful organ, the place serves as a venue for many concerts.

The church was built in 1454. Destroyed during the second world war, and rebuilt between 1946 and 1962.
