Powazkowski Cemetery Warsaw

Category: Sights Warsaw – admin – 11:49 am

Since more than 200 years Powazkowski is a cemetery of giant dimensions. In some places the cemetery has a lenght of one kilometre.

Powazkowski has a very important meaning for the Varsovians. Every 1st of November ten thousands of candles are inflames, and the whole cemetery blooms in a impressing sea of lights.

Many important Poles have found their last resting place here. They can be found in the “Avenue of honour”, which was created inside the cemetery in 1925. The graves of componists, politicans, and opera singers can be seen.
