Category: Castle Warsaw – admin – 7:50 pm

Some people say that Wilanow is probably the most beautiful castle of Warsaw. The impressive building was the summer residence for the Polish kings, and later the Polish aristocracy.

Wilanow Castle was built at the end of the 17th century according to the plans of an Italian architect. The name of the castle has Italian origin as well. It comes from “Villa Nova” and means something like “new city”.

A tour through the castle offers a sight on the Royal rooms, and very important collections of paintings from Polish artists. The old racing stable is the location of Europes first poster museum.

The castle is surrounded by a fancy neighborhood with a lot of coffee houses and restaurants. The most important coffee house in this area is Cafe Wedel. Their speciality is viscous chocolate.
